Here’s what the farm looked like “back in the day”. (Guessing 1930’s-40’s.)
This shot, taken from above the area in which our current home sits, looks NE at what was then the Mitsch farm. The farm remained in the Mitsch family from it’s inception in the 1880’s up until Don sold the west side to us in 1993. The farm home and chicken house were on the east side of Marsh Rd. The west side held the main dairy barn with attached silo and grainery, milkhouse, pumphouse, machine sheds and hog buildings. The old dairy barn still stands proudly today , it’s timberframing crafted from oak forests whose saplings likely sprouted through local soils in the late 1600’s. On sunny and breezy days the hay mow comes to life as the wind whispers and sunbeams dance between the cracks, invoking the ambiance of a cathedral.
