Food, Glorious Food!

We are motivated to eat by pangs of hunger in concert with the insatiable desires of our taste buds - the latter having succumbed brainlessly to the euphoric effects of sugar.  Yet the choices we make in deciding what to eat transcends the rudimentary demands of hunger and sugar, for it is indeed our metabolism which has it’s hand on the dinner bell.

Our metabolism being analogous to a home construction crew, the building quality is only as good as the materials supplied.  If we choose to be passive, we roll the dice and let the satisfaction of our bellies and taste buds be our guide.  Our metabolism extracts the proteins, carbs, fatty acids, vitamins and minerals that we accidentally supply.  If a key component is missing, our metabolism builds “us” without it.   It’s truly a game of chance.

Pastured proteins contain the ESSENTIAL materials that our metabolic crew needs to build our cells - “us”- to spec - everyday.   Since livestock were removed from pasture, these essential materials are now insufficient or non-existent in conventional foods.  Additionally, a well managed pasture-based farm unlocks and enhances the biological fertility available in the soil.

The symbiosis between domesticated livestock and soil microbial “livestock” is the keystone to sustainable human nourishment and sustainable soil fertility.
